Lately, I haven't been that great of a friend. I have been mean, ignorant, and uncaring. It really hit me hard today when I almost lost a good friend. I was talking to my mom about it when I realized that I take people for granted all too often. What would happen if I lost my friends for good? What if they were gone altogether, as in, what if they died? I need to treat the people around me as if they were dying. What do we say to people who are dying? I am not exactly sure, but I know that we don't walk up to their deathbed and say, "Hey, I think I am better than you and you mean nothing to me. Have fun." But that is exactly what I have been saying to my friends through my actions. Lesson of the day: Don't take the friends God has given you for granted.

P.S. If you are one of those people that I have treated wrongly, I am sorry, and I understand that you don't have to stay my friend...although I would appreciate if you did stay my friend. Or if you are someone who needs somebody to talk to..about anything, I will be here, feel free to talk.

My own little world...
A couple days ago, my family and I went to get our Christmas tree. We picked out our tree, and while we were paying, we noticed a lady who was by herself. She started to talk to us, and said she needed a way to get her tree home, cause she was driving a small car and couldn't fit the tree in it. We were running low on time, and told her that we couldn't help. We were about to leave the parking lot, when we noticed the lady was still trying to get help. We kept on going back and forth, wondering if we should drive away or not. We finally asked her if she lived close enough to take her tree there for her, but she lived so far away that it was impossible for us to help. It made me think of how many times we do that in our daily lives- God gives us opportunities to talk to people, and to help others who need it. We get so focused on ourselves that we miss what the person we are talking to needs.
How many times do we talk to someone, and actually hear them? How many times do we say, "How are you?" and actually care? How many times do we offer to help, or offer to pray for someone? How many people do you talk to are hiding their hurt inside? How many times are we in our own little world? How many times do we just think about ourselves? We become so prideful, that we miss opportunities to help others, and to be a blessing.
5 In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:"
Jesus' life was literally all for us. Matthew 20:28 "28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” If we are supposed to live like Jesus, why aren't we selfless?
There is a song that I heard recently. I have listened to this song before, but i never HEARD it. The song is "My Own Little World" by the Christian artist, Matthew West. Here are some of the lyrics:
Later in the song, he realizes that life isn't just about us, it is about others.

Philippians 2:3-5
3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, 4 not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. 5 In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:"

In my own little world it hardly ever rains
I’ve never gone hungry, I've always felt safe
I got some money in my pocket; shoes on my feet
In my own little world
Population: me
I try to stay awake through the Sunday morning church
I throw a twenty in the plate but I never give ’til it hurts
and I turn off the news when I don’t like what I see
it’s easy to do when it’s
population: me
Later in the song, he realizes that life isn't just about us, it is about others.
Start breaking my heart for what breaks Yours
give me open hands and open doors
put Your light in my eyes and let me see
that my own little world is not about me
Instead of getting caught up in our own lives, especially in the Christmas season, how can we live selflessly?

State Champions!
So, today, my school won the state championship for football! So proud of them! They have worked so hard! It reminded me that whenever we do something for God's Glory, we win, whether we legitimately win or not. You feel good doing things for God's glory, because it is more fulfilling than doing something for yourself. Our treasures will be stored in heaven when we do things for God,but when we do things for Man we lose a part of ourselves.

Reducing our love? Or recycling our love?
Today I was talking to my Spanish teacher about how cool his bracelets are because they are made out of recycled tires. I really like recycled stuff like my recycled binder and my recycled pencil pouch, or even my recycled pens. Then I thought: How come it is so easy to throw a simple water bottle (empty of course) into the recycling bin, but so hard to give my change to the Salvation Army people outside of Walmart? I mean, seriously, I am willing to do something to 'save the planet' but it's hard for me to help save the world? I am not talking about the world as in the ground or the air, but the people. Aren't the people more important? Being a Christian, I shouldn't be selfish with my money, or my time, and I shouldn't be selfish with GOD'S LOVE. God loved and still loves us. He made us in His image, so why is it so hard to love one another? We all struggle with this, sometimes, or even all the time. We are so quick to point the finger, or judge others, especially those who don't love us.
Luke 6:32-33 NLT " If you love only those who love you, why should you get credit for that? Even sinners love those who love them! And if you do good only to those who do good to you, why should you get credit? Even sinners do that much!"
I am not saying that we need to donate thousands of dollars to charities or to the homeless (although they would appreciate it) but I think what we really need to do is love each other. How? We can all do the little things, like SMILE! Can it get any easier than smiling at someone? Or doing the chores when you are asked to (I struggle with this). What is something simple we can do today to show the world/the people around us God's love?
Reducing your love? </3 or recycling it? <3 <3 <3
